We've bought and tested more than 375 TVs over the last nine years, and below are our recommendations for the best Roku TVs you can buy. See our picks for the best budget TVs, the best smart TVs, and the best small TVs. Most brands will start releasing their 2023 lineups soon, so make sure to vote on which ones you want us to buy and test first. If you want to find out more about the 2023 models, check out our 2023 TV lineup page.
The best Roku TV we've tested is the TCL 6 Series/R655 2022 QLED. It's an impressive TV overall, with fantastic contrast and a decent Mini LED local dimming feature that helps improve the appearance of dark scenes. It has an impressive color gamut in HDR and great color volume thanks to its high peak brightness, so colors in HDR look vibrant and life-life. Bright highlights stand out incredibly well, and it tracks the PQ EOTF properly, ensuring HDR content is displayed the way the content creator intended.
If you want to future-proof your next TV, the TCL 6 Series/R648 2021 8k QLED is the best 8k Roku TV we've tested. It's a great TV with excellent contrast and a decent full array local dimming feature, resulting in deep blacks in a dark room. The high peak brightness helps it deliver an impressive HDR experience, as bright highlights stand out from the background. It also respects the content creator's intent, as it follows the PQ EOTF well and has great tone mapping in HDR. It has an excellent wide color gamut and good color volume, so HDR content looks incredibly vivid and lifelike.
The best budget Roku TV we've tested is the TCL 5 Series/S555 2022 QLED. It delivers similar picture quality to the more expensive TCL 6 Series/R655 2022 QLED but has a worse local dimming feature and fewer gaming features. It's still a great TV for watching movies in a dark room thanks to its superb contrast ratio and decent full array local dimming feature, but there's more noticeable blooming around bright objects than on the 6 Series.
Our recommendations above are what we think are currently the best TVs with Roku built-in to buy for most people. We factor in the price (a cheaper TV wins over a pricier one if the difference isn't worth it), feedback from our visitors, and availability (no TVs that are difficult to find or almost out of stock everywhere).
good afternoon, my brothers & i purchased an insignia brand 55 in roku tv back on 6/1/19 for our father for fathers day. Recently it has run into a major issue. It wont turn on. We have tried the main troubleshooting techniques involving unplugging, holding power button, then turning on but it doesnt seem to work. The best we got was resetting the remote. The screen blinked on for a second & then turned black again. Any ideas to something we can try to get it working
The best Roku TVs are some of the most user-friendly smart TVs on the market, and typically some of the least expensive, too. They come stocked with a superb selection of apps, including all of the top streaming services, that rival any premium smart TV on the market.
Without a doubt, when it comes to Roku TVs, the best and most prominent models are those made by TCL. The manufacturer's close partnership with Roku means that TCL models represent the top Roku TVs on the market.
Until those issues are cleared up, we recommend the TCL 6-Series Roku TV R635 as it remains one of the best TVs we've reviewed at its price, period. It combines quantum-dot displays with mini-LED backlight to offer a level of quality that goes toe-to-toe with more expensive big-name brands and wins.
The TCL 5-Series Roku TV S535 may not reach the same heights as the slightly more expensive 6-Series, but it shows that Roku software can still power a great TV experience regardless of the feature set, with the TCL 5-Series offering one of the best quantum dot-enhanced budget TVs on the market.
It's not as new as the R655, but the TCL 6-Series R635 offers premium picture quality and a great smart TV experience for much less than its competition. The R635 also ups the ante with mini-LED backlighting in addition to a quantum-dot display. The result is impressive color and brightness, with some of the best HDR performance we've seen on anything this side of a premium OLED TV.
Features like THX Certified Game Mode also help make the 6-Series one of the best gaming TVs available. It even has features such as auto low-latency mode and variable refresh rate, which are a boon for consoles like the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. From the design's smart touches, like cable management in the stand, to the always-solid Roku TV platform, the TCL R635 is one of the best TVs you'll find right now.
With the QLED display offering a wide color gamut and excellent color accuracy, the 5-Series is easily one of the best LCD TVs in its price range. It also offers top-of-the-line HDR support, with Dolby Vision in addition to basic HDR10 and HLG formats. With input lag clocking in at 13.1 milliseconds, it's also one of the best gaming TVs you can buy if you're on a budget. And it's roughly half the price of Samsung's equivalent QLED TV, making it one of the best values in smart TVs.
The Roku name applies to both smart TVs using the Roku operating system, as well as a range of standalone streaming devices, such as the Roku Streaming Stick Plus. (Check out the best Roku devices for our favorites.) While smart TVs using Roku software are all manufactured by other companies, the streaming devices are made by Roku itself. But the thing they have in common across both TVs and streaming sticks, is that they all use the same Roku interface and app store.
We also like that Roku offers such a wide range of content and apps, which Roku calls \"channels\", just to make traditional TV users a little more comfortable. This includes major streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Disney Plus and HBO Max. (See our collection of the best Roku Channels to learn more.)
There are also plenty of free services, such as Pluto TV, Tubi and PBS Kids, not to mention The Roku Channel, Roku's own ad-supported streaming service. (Find out more in our roundup of the best free channels on Roku.)
The Roku smart TV operating system can be found on all sorts of TVs, including some of our favorite affordable sets on our lists of the best TVs under $500 and the best TVs under $1,000, with models ranging from budget-friendly to premium home theater systems. When it comes to budget TVs, we find the sweet spot to be $600 and $1,000. In this price range you will find excellent performance with features like QLED displays, support for Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos sound, and all of the apps you want.
Do we recommend Roku TVs to our readers In a word, yes. Roku TVs are made by some of the best TV brands, and offer all of the standard smart TV features shoppers are looking for, without the fuss of more advanced functions, such as smart home integration or over-aggressive ads and recommendations.
And the best Roku TVs offer more than just an enjoyable smart TV experience, they also include some really well-made TVs that deliver great picture and sound for much less than premium sets from more recognizable brands.
When it comes to buying the best Roku TVs, our general advice for TV shopping holds true: Find the right screen size for your space, figure out what your budget is, and be smart with where you try to save a buck.
HDR support: For the best picture, we recommend getting a set that offers high dynamic range (HDR) support. HDR10 is the base standard, while Dolby Vision is a higher-caliber format, and we recommend opting for Dolby Vision support when you have the choice.
We also spend time with each set for real-world evaluation and see how our lab results translate into more subjective performance. We also compare sets side by side and view samples from the latest movies, specialized test patterns that highlight strengths and weaknesses of each display, and a range of content across several sources. With that information, we can tell you which Roku TVs look best, sound best and offer the best viewing experience.
The first of the TVs is the largest offering, and it's a TCL 75Q825 with a 75-inch a $K UHD HDR panel and mini-LED backlighting. Mini-LED backlighting allows for more precise local dimming and more uniform illumination. TCL also fits the TV with Quantum Dot technology for improved brightness and a wider color range along with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos. Another big feature is an integrated Roku Smart TV platform that supports just about every streaming service out there, including Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Disney+. Perhaps the best feature is the price tag of $1,799.99, which represents a $1,200 discount.
Game day is almost here and if you're worried about missing the action Best Buy is offering some of the best deals on TVs. One great pick (especially if you like a big view) is the LG UP7070 Smart TV, on sale in its 70-inch size for $100 off at $549.99. LG says the screen has a built-in 4K Quad Core Processor to create a \"smooth, crisp viewing experience with enhanced contrast.\"
With so many fantastic TV deals available, it can be hard to know which to get. If you're vacillating between a couple, be sure to check Reviewed's TV reviews for some in-depth insight. One great pick is the LG 65-Inch C2 Series Class OLED evo Gallery Edition Smart TV. Usually priced at $3,786.30, you can take home the screen for $1,649 today at Walmart. As the best TV we've ever tested, we appreciated the thin design and word-class picture quality.
The best way to compare TVs is to put them next to each other and look at them using the same content, so we do just that with the budget models we test. We also consider how they perform in relation to the more expensive TVs we test for our best LCD/LED TV guide.
The most important thing you can do to get the best performance from any TV is to set it up correctly. For the TCL 5-Series, we recommend using the Movie picture mode and reducing the sharpness control to zero. In our tests, we preferred Contrast Control Zones (local-dimming control) set to high, as the low and medium settings offered little improvement (if any) over leaving it disabled. Other image-processing functions, such as Dynamic Contrast, should be disabled, as they actually cause the TV to lose dynamic range. The Natural Cinema function should be enabled so that the TV produces motion that is accurate for TV shows and movies. You should disable all of the Auto Power options in the System Power menu. 59ce067264
